Back in March we had the incredible opportunity to tour Japan for 6 days and the country made a lasting impression on all of us. Never have we been so welcomed into another community or treated so hospitably. From the start, we all were blown away by the beautiful sights and culture of Japan--some of the highlights were seeing the Toyko fish market, riding on the Bullet Train to Sendai, and walking the Philosopher's Path in Kyoto with the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom. But even more so, we were overwhelmed to witness firsthand the amazing bluegrass history and community in Japan. It was inspiring to see audience members mouthing the words to old Stanley Brothers tunes that we played at our performances, or to listen to eyewitness stories of bluegrass legends coming to tour Japan in years past, and especially to hear the incredible caliber of local bluegrass musicians around the country. It felt like they all knew more about bluegrass than we did!
We’re in the middle of an epic four week tour of New Zealand and Australia and we’re writing this in the car in Tasmania on our way to a gig. We started out the trip with four shows in New Zealand, the homeland of our fabulous banjo player BB Bowness. New Zealand is every bit as beautiful as we’d imagined, wherever we looked we saw unforgettable scenes. Our drives never had a dull moment as we wound our way through most of the North Island, constantly encountering fantastic new landscapes. We stopped to visit an endangered kiwi bird at a local bird sanctuary, and geeked out hard when we drove past the mountains used as Mordor when filming The Lord of the Rings.
So thankful to the International Bluegrass Music Association for all their support and recognition. We're honored to be the recipients of the 2017 Band Momentum Award. Huge thanks to everyone who has encouraged and helped us along the way!
Thrilled to announce that Mile Twelve will be touring in New Zealand and Australia this October and November! Huge thanks to Due South Touring Co. for helping us put this epic trip together and we can't wait to see all our friends and fans Down Under!

As I type this we are tracking our final song in the studio. That’s right, twelve whole songs! There’s still plenty of work to do before this thing is ready to release to the world, but we are all breathing a collective sigh knowing that the hardest work is behind us. None of this would have been possible without the tireless work of our producer Stephen Mougin. I don’t think he left the mixing board for more than five minutes during our twelve hour work days. This album is truly his as much as it's ours. And, of course, it’s yours too. We are all still amazed at the enormous support you have shown us. When we first clicked the button to make our Kickstarter live it was hard to believe we would really be sitting here now putting the final touches on an album we are truly proud of. Twelve songs, each one deeply meaningful to us, making up one cohesive project that represents who we are today as a band. We can’t wait to share this music with all of you. More updates will follow as we get into the mixing and final production stages and have a clearer idea of when the album will be released! Thanks again for being there for us.
We made it!! As of a few minutes ago, our Kickstarter has finished, with a total of 300 backers contributing $18,872. This is such great news, our album is completely funded and we will have extra funds for additional publicity once the album is released. THANK YOU so much to everyone who contributed, you made this possible. We'll be in the studio between March 8-16 recording this thing, and along the way we'll be sure to keep all of you updated with photos, posts and videos chronicling the journey. For the next month we'll be practicing hard, both as a band and individually to get ready it. Talk to you soon!
THANK YOU to all of our friends, family and fans! We've been running a Kickstarter campaign during the month of January to raise the money to record our debut full-length album in Nashville with producer and engineer Stephen Mougin and have been blown away by all the support we've received. Because of all of you we are going to be able to make this album the right way, with a great producer in a great studio in a great city. We can't wait to share this record with all of you, as well as the t-shirts, stickers and other brand new Mile Twelve swag that will be given to our supporters with our gratitude. You can continue to give to our Kickstarter until February 1st. at 6:07PM EST and every additional dollar will now go towards additional publicity for the album: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/122826687/mile-twelve-debut-full-length-album You will continue to receive all of the other rewards we have! If you've had problems with the Kickstarter interface you can email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org to contribute and pre-order the album privately. We'll start recording in Nashville on March 8th and we're unbelievably excited about it! Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Let's make a record!
Well, we're back from another successful International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Business Conference week! This year we spent 4 days touring down to Raleigh in Nate's Ford Taurus (lovingly nick-named "Dolores The Taurus), stopping to play in NYC, Gladstone NJ, Charlottesville VA and Fountain NC. The week of IBMA was a whirlwind of fun and business; we played 11 showcases throughout the week, attended the business conference panels and jammed until the wee hours almost every night. Needless to say, it was a week of little sleep. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights we ran a late night showcase room in the Marriott, with co-sponsors Boston Bluegrass Union and Lonely Heartstring Band. We performed in the showcase room each night alongside some of our favorite bands including, Special Consensus, Chris Jones and
It's that time of year again, yes! We're heading down to Raleigh, NC again for our second IBMA as a band. We have a fantastic schedule lined-up in our afterhours showcase room at the Marriott hotel on Wednesday Sep 28th, Thursday the 29th and Friday the 30th. Here's our poster for the room which we're co-sponsoring this year with the Boston Bluegrass Union and the Lonely Heartstring Band. We'll also be playing a few other showcases during the week, check us out here...
We've just returned from a great week of shows in sunny (and sometimes not so sunny) Florida! We played in Fort Lauderdale, North Tampa and the Baygrass Bluegrass Festival down in Islamorada which was in the northern part of the Florida Keys. That was an especially beautiful part of our trip. The drive from Miami down to Islamorada was on a single one lane highway, borderd by marshes and ocean on either side. We saw tons of wildlife, including one huge epically orange iguana and lots of pelicans. On the last day of the trip we had a day off in Islamorada and spent the day opening coconuts by hand and using them to make pina coladas. Thanks so much to Jim, Marci, Robbie and Armando for hosting us, we'll be back again soon!
A track from our EP has made its way onto Spotify's "Fresh Bluegrass" Playlist. We're in some great company, also featured are some of our favorite bands, including The Punch Brothers, Earls of Leicester, The Infamous Stringdusters, Nickel Creek and Della Mae. We just got back from a great weekend at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Convention. We were honored to be selected as 2015 NERFA Formal Showcase Artists, and had a great time playing in the Manhattan Theater on Saturday night. We also did several late-night showcases in the hotel, and got to hear lots of really great new folk music. Thanks Jake Jacobs for the photo from our formal showcase.

We also had the chance to perform at the IBMA Youth Showcase Stage and the CBA Suite. Here's a photo from our Saturday set at the IBMA Youth Stage.
We're heading down to Raleigh, NC next week for the IBMA Business Conference and World of Bluegrass event.
